The point the author has is we should stop believing that men will protect women when they are at risk of harm mostly from other men. The point she makes is men should stop saying that men are the natural protectors and providers and women should stop blindly believe men with their very lives and safety. Because that simply is not true, as seen in all of our experiences and as it also goes against our very common sense that everyone would protect themselves only in danger, and not put themselves in danger to protect others, and that women should rather learn to protect themselves and not rely on men for that because the attackers are all men mostly and the men related or known to you mostly will have a selfish reason even if they are protecting you, or, just won't find it logical to get themselves in danger to protect you.
