Men don't look for resources into women? Which planet are you living in? Then who demands their wives cook meals, clean the house, take care of their parents, siblings ( in many cultures, including mine), take care of their kids completely by their own, manage the entire household without much care for the women's own wants and ambitions? Women always have been providing all the above, just that we largely don't call it providing, because in our society money and authority are real powers and those are systematically been held by men, and women either are mostly barred from entering that game, or, the societal system of a man being a bread-winner and woman being the household manager and carer comes in the way of women's further progression in the game. And, talking about protection, it has different kinds, of course men are physically much stronger than women in general, and that means most of the perpetrators are men, most of the protectors are men too. But what does that justify exactly? Patriarchy? Might makes right? No! Patriarchy is just a effed up system which has been almost everywhere in our society creating unhappiness and destruction for the last 5k - 10k years, and human history is millions of years old.
